Mit FRAGMENTS setzt sich der Künstler mit Tod und Trauer als täglichen Begleitern auseinander. Wie trauert man? Was tun mit den Fragmenten, die übrig bleiben? Mit Materialien, die seinen Hund beim Spiel mit Holz, einem Symbol für Erneuerung und Nachschub, einfangen, schafft Tomaž Simatović eine Umgebung für ein Ritual in seiner Erinnerung. Er teilt mit uns eine kinästhetische Partitur, die er in den letzten drei Jahren als Reaktion auf persönliche und kollektive Verluste praktiziert hat, als mo(u)rning Körperritual.

Tomaž Simatović ist Tänzer, darstellender Künstler, Pädagoge und Choreograph mit Wohnsitz in Salzburg. Er studierte zeitgenössischen Tanz an der Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance und erhielt seinen Master in Choreographie an der ArtEZ Arnhem. Seit 2020 entwickelt er gemeinsam mit András Meszerics künstlerische Arbeiten im Rahmen des Laboratory for Participative Imaginaries mit Schwerpunkt auf sozialen und politischen Themen sowie Publikumsbeteiligung.

With FRAGMENTS the artist deals with death and grief as daily companions. How to mourn? What to do with the fragments that remain? Using materials that capture his dog at play with wood, a symbol of renewal and replenishment, Tomaž Simatović creates an environment for a ritual in his memory. He shares with us a kinaesthetic score that he practiced throughout the last three years in response to personal and collective losses, both as a morning as well as a mo(u)rning body ritual.<7P>
Tomaž Simatović is a dancer, performing artist, pedagogue, and a choreographer, based in Salzburg. He studied contemporary dance at Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, and received his MA in choreography at ArtEZ Arnhem. Since 2020 he has been developing artistic work in the frame of Laboratory for Participative Imaginaries, together with András Meszerics, with focus on social and political topics and audience participation.
